The Royal Liver Building has stood proudly on the banks of the River Mersey for 108 years, greeting visitors to the city and returning scousers alike standing proud as one of the most recognisable features of Liverpool’s world-renowned waterfront.

For the first time in that long history, the iconic building is set to be lit up permanently on the Liverpool skyline, with a brand new permanent light display, aptly named ‘Flight’.

The brand new installation is the latest in a series of developments on the historic building, with recent works including a string of new facilities for the offices based within, and is set to be launched on the first day of the annual River of Light festival. The light show will come to life at night, telling the story of the iconic building, the clock towers and the Liver Birds and their place in the history of the city.

The installation will become a permanent feature, sure to be popular with locals and tourists, especially those visiting via the busy Cruise Terminal. Bespoke displays are also set to take place throughout the year as part of the city’s cultural calendar.
